Thought of putting a fancy quote but somehow decide against it.......I'm pretty much disinspired now (if at all thats a word...)...the urge to do things spiralling downwards rapidly.....if at all I do need some of that.....I get it from the unlikliest of places...MY own bath......thats the one spl. thing I look forward to everyday....My Bodhi tree if u will.....I get reminded of my slumberness and a whole lot of other unfinished businesses....all it takes a couple of vows to never do that again......the setting seems so serene....with music blaring out of a boombox reserved for use while using...(these days its BOYS time...except for Ale Ale everything else goes)....the time duration of which cud also be decided by the cd on play...14 hip - hop dance numbers usually had my other room-mates yelling (back in my old apt of course....but now thats not much of a prob).....does that really help?...I can certainly say it's not.....sometimes i get so tired after that I start sleeping rite away....but for the while it lasts it's so good and brings in the best of singing / wailing skills in me......happened to see a couple of Tamil movies....extremes I'd rather say.....what ppl (i mean the media) call a crowd puller, sensitive movie is one shit of a movie...Priyamana Thozhi deserves nothing better than a slapstick review.....all fingers down..not just thumbs....it was indeed a tear-jerker to the helpless 5 watching the movie....thrilling enough to speculate how soon the movie wud end.....then there was Whistle....wudn't complain if the story was "lifted" outta some Hollywood flick....curiously remade to suit desi inhibitions...but was worth a watch...its way lot better to make some copied thrillers than to get one drowzy with an All-family, 2-wedding, 3-love affaired extravaganza(btw I wasn't talking abt K3G alone).....that sucks bigtime....

I got this mail from my dad a couple of yrs back in my final yr of engg.....when I was terribly flunking in all my final interviews and was really upset abt that...today is kinda anniversary of one of those big interviews...i was so ecstatic that I made it into the final five for the HR interviews.....but I guess my PR was so bad that I was the only one ending up flunking.....I was so damn irritated with myself....then it was second time unlucky...the same stuff....cleared the first 3 hurdles and fell awfully short in the final one.....in the third it's hard to describe the jitters in my stomach....It was unbearable......luckily i passed the slew this time.....this tiny paragraph meant so much to me....and sometimes I feel really astonished to know that some 1 actually hired me for working under them...but as every1 one of my friends I shud be thinking on what cud have been.....still I like my prolonged student life....got to know a lot of stuff and now I feel kinda employable.....if I ask some of my friends who chose to work...they say it's boring as hell...probably shud have studied further.....wish I cud have an alter-ego or kinda SLIDING DOORS (desi version 12B) analogy in my life to see which ones wud be better....do you feel the same way???

This quote made me think a lot.....so is every routine insane???.....Day in and day out ppl do the same stuff and complain of boredom...atleast thats what I am doing....there's this urgent need of infusing freshness in what I do....or.....dunno whats in store...Coming to think of it many wud argue Einstein was an insane guy.....Anyway, for the past week or so I tried my hand at almost all the outdoor sports as part of the Independence day celebrations at our univ....and falling short of the last hurdle in almost all the events....but nice to be a part of all the stuff.....and yesterday I almost got creamed from my prof....Thats the first time he being so upset and that scared the wits outta me....maybe i am bugging him too much.....was browsing thru some1's blog...had asked for an alter-ego...I wud luv to be in Neo's (frm the Matrix)shoes...gosh!! atleast saving the world shud keep u occupied....and wow i just cud give anything for the amazing stunt beating up 97 agent Smiths.....and finally I still have
* Get my paycheck....
*Return books to the library
but wud luv to
* Hit the pool
*have dosa with cocnut chutney.....mmmm
which ones gonna materialise....u never know!

So thanks to vetti ...I fell short of the cooking and Tennis part yesterday....Yesh's b'day party had taken the rest of the night...so in traditional Shanmugha isshtyle.....we had it celebrated....it's more fun to the ppl in the jamboree....so every1 sat down after the exploits abt 2am to watch the celluloid version of Thomas Harris' RED DRAGON ....I had inadvertently bought the DVD a couple of weeks back......but it was worth every penny....I for one think it's way too superior to its sequel (chronologically prequel) Silence of the Lambs....true had swept the Oscars unlike this one...but the potrayal of the characters was PERFECT....I'm starting to watch quite a number of Edward Norton's movies and he is of the Kevin Spacey class....choice of screenplay "Dead - On"....doesn't mess around with some stupid movies....and if Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter was voted the "villain of the century"....it is for a reason....the movie's haunting and scarier than a regular horror flick....and though the clues were right out there...u had to wait till the last scene to unfurl them.....Chilling movie.....The one thing left is to read through the novels....but I doubt doing it....I have never had the patience to complete one......movies are far too interesting.....had to rush through a lot of technical journals to start on this MEMS project.....but blogging has been addictive..that's speaking in a mild tone.....;-)

PROCASTRINATE.....
Well, this has been the summary of my day so far.....I had endlessly put off things....doing things way ahead of time is quite an alien concept to me.....scraping past deadlines has been the routine....it's not the first time it's biting me....but still I never get the message across......I had bought a planner just to serve this cause last time around....any difference.... Zilch...guess it takes a lil bit less of a planner and a lil bit more of a steely resolve to get back on track....the case today was some undone paperwork....which eventually had me running places....well I had done some things strange today too....found the not so familiar gym room of my apartment....but had to be dragged by a friend of mine at 7:00 ( he got his fair share of cursings)...nice to get on the cool early breeze...a refreshing change from the belting heat(over 105 deg) we have receiving the past couple of days ( ask my friend who had walked all thru with me yesterday...and planning on revenge)....oh how sorely i miss the snow clad mountains of santa fe from last december.....since there's still some left of today...thinking of some Tennis and Cooking....yeah...there's this thing which put a smile back to my face today.....simply put....and makes sense.....found it in a fellow blogger (Ritzy)I'm not much of a Statistics person....but this bell curve is for real....

TWENTY SOMETHING......OR CORPORATE GIZMO..........
On a perfectly good morning.....nice and warm.....I find myself...on the couch.....still sleeping....It's been a long time I watched cricket...save the mercilessly watched tapes of the Indo-Pak match of the WC'03......It was quite fun watching them after assembling the satellite dishes...yeah ppl won't give those in a cable line here...we did had a stand-off with our apartment management for installing them...i wudn't give up on the thrill of watching a cricket match with a dozen other ppl...i shud say a dozen other commentators....experts witht heir views...but still thats the closest u cud get to see that in a stadia.....so where was I ??? yup long time no see cricket matches.....and suddenly it rambled on to the 20-20 cups and the newly proposed and still not outta the woods Corporate Cup.....I had the chance of going through lot of articles both for and against them...some of which were really good....so as it stands lemme compare the 2 ...I shud give it to the wily genius of Dalmiya....ppl up west may say he's trying to usurp power frm the traditional natives of cricket....but why shudn't he...the largest viewership and the most sales potential is in india only....so y not exploit it....but what is bound to happen is a definite controversy between the board and the sponsors on monetary issues.....if there is so much money involved (rumored to be around 1 crore for the winners) ....i loved the idea of clubs putting forth their muscle getting classy players to don their colors....thats what makes footbal so exciting.....club loyalties run higher than patriotic fervour.......a mouth watering opportunity to see traditional rivalries at home...say a match between B'bay Buccaneers and the Madras Manglers....ok iwas off target with the names...let them do the thinking.....if it takes couple of overseas players to do the trick.....so be it....i had watched a couple of ranji matches and it was pathetic....well u cud call it attendance as in a classroom....what makes a Ind - Bangaladesh encounter more fun to watch that a TN-Mumbai ranji final one wud never know....?
Sexing up cricket as it put across more often...is nice....."Nothing ventured...Nothign gained"...I just picked it up from a stupid episode of "relic Hunter"...I bet u wudnt' see VIVA performing at the matches......or maybe they will....( i hate their music !!).....atleast u wudn't see a Jacuzzi out on the lawns....and if u r as bored as me u might wanna see these 2 articles frm Outlook ( 1 & 2
P.S I beleive my next article shud be on the revival of hockey........nah...i'm being too critical....

Now I'm getting to remember things.....had a stupid fight with a friend of mine over petty inconsequential reasons....feeling really bad abt that.....and an atrocious piece of media speculation had me laughing at the state of affairs...well if they had nothing to report they cud as well have left the space blank rather than publish such a useless article...if this had been to sell a couple of more copies ....i never wud have thought a reputed daily like the TOI doing this....and the articel in question is the coincidences abt ASH and Vivek Oberoi accidents....omg!!!!!!......firstly accidents do happen....with the non-print media going ga-ga over something like this ....with a whole lot of other important news to be looked upon....had one exposed a corrupt system ala the Tehelka way or just by any other means....that wud have done something of a good....that doesn't mean u dont have to report on Entertainment related subjects...yeah I do dig movie reports...this is way too idiotic......film rushes, reviews, first takes and box office reports shud be enuf....tagging front page news isnt that appropriate...hope they change...well it must classify to the worst articles of the week...i shud be maintaining a column on that too...guess i have a knack to find those.....so long.....

hi ...me back after a 2 day hiatus...been doing nothing special.....was dumped with "Two weeks notice" from the stupid DVD rental plan...hey whats even more stupider .....bingo !! the movie....I'd thought a 150 million $ grosser would have something to boast about....hey the reviews weren't that bad....but throughout the movie it's like " been there seen that" kinda things that creeps u up....well maybe had it surfaced b4 "Pretty woman" or some other Julia Roberts flick...it cud have sounded sane enuf.....total formulaic....down to the last scene kiss and making up part.....well no wonder Ms. Bullock had no takers and had to produce it herself....and lo! we call Bollywood movies being that repetitive.....She has this kind of potrayal in almost every other movie...total non-dreser to the second half beauty queen....thank heavens for the Skip button in the remote..but for that it wud have been more painful....Bottomline minus 2 stars........i've been asked to work on a new project...so shud keep me bc atleast for some time..planning to take a vacation...finding no takers at the moment....thanks guys for all ur help....i appreciate that...

So here I am ...after a lot of testing some unknown HTML stuff (I'm an Electrical engineer for crying out loud)...I decide it's better to do whats best...just post in...... This is kinda my first "Blogging" Experience....per se...Dunno what to expect out of it....Still hope it just gets me hooked up to something interesting. For starters, I am Ranjith a grad student @ Texas Tech majoring in EE....been here for a year and a half nearing the completion of my degree, that of course I wake up and finish my Thesis stuff.....That's pretty much it......seen a lotta ppl out here and their blogs do make for interesting reading...
I was reading through the Cricket pages of BBC when I chanced upon this one....makes for interesting reading....Don't be surprised to see too many Australian names featuring there....it's just a part of what they have made Cricket today...especially loved King Viv's one....Wacky thought but y not...these days ppl are digging out way too weird things to make Cricket interesting......y cant' they come up with "One sledge per 2 over rule" on the lines of "One bouncer per Over rule"..U can't control it so y not make it legal.....quite simple to work on.....Here are the allowances
* Choice of words decided by ICC...legalised shud we say ....and no hidden references to one's immediate kin...everything must be directly referenced.
* Any of the presiding umpires to mediate...although if the square - leg umpire decides to do he'd be given good accessibilities.
* If a player wishes not to do so.....he may not carry that to his subsequent spells or transfer it to a team-mate....
* Words to be in English language only ...... others have to be approved by the ICC through their respective boards
* Players to be loud and clear when they opt to sledge....this is for clarification to the mediating umpires and the batsman/bowler/fielder involved
* A statistic of the same will be maintained and duly displayed when the player comes to bat or to bowl.
* Attempts to cheat will be referred to the third umpire who wud necessitate action on consultation with the involved player..
* In the case above the player may return the compliments or "sledge" him in forthcoming matches.
* If in case it's his last match.....compliments must be clarified in the pre-match / post-match interviews or the player to use his own discretion in selecting the medium of conveyance
That's too much wacky stuff for one day.....It isn't future cricket ..it's common-sense cricket.....neway gotta go.....got a report due tommorow and i am here worrying abt the future of cricket.....so long......
My mood today --------- thats quite complex to be expressed using a single smiley....
