Ejjams

Throughout history, mine of course, exams have taken up a lot of time.. valuable sometimes. I wrote my umpteenth and latest mid-term last week... It was a whole new experience so to speak... this one has been the first since mid 2002. Here's a brief history of " Exams and me".. .. Coming to think of it, if I count the hours I spent in writing exams and preparing for them, that accounts for a whole year of study... particularly it gets nasty depending on the kinda school ur enrolled... Pre-quarters, pre-half, 1-4 revision tests and innumerable class tests.... yeah count the boards too..... 4 yrs of B.E... another bucketload of university exams.... meaningless yet u gotta take it.... but the one thing abt exams i wrote u got marks instead of grades... for a major portion of my life, i never beleived in grades, 1. they dont tell u how different u r.. good or bad.. 2. the best part of school life is in competition to succeed.. .school as in high school extending to junior college... yeah i let sanity prevail for the rest of it... particualrly when u get a big range of marks for which u can end up with a "A" grade... (yet that A+ or A- grade does make a difference)... so back to the last one... i guess the bath-tub curve holds good for everything... now i'm at the flatter portion with scant interest in exams and their effects... i dont expect the marks with bated breaths as i used to do like the scores of my friends in those entrance exam centric admissions world.... in the end all it does is to make you think how worthless they were... (and to note this isnt my polambal, but i have just sown the seed for a whole new testing system thought to come out in 2028 A.D. .weird yet true)
